Six weeks of disruption on M3 for emergency repairs

Disruption is expected on the M3 in Surrey and East Hampshire lasting for around six weeks because of emergency repair work.

Until mid February including weekends lanes 1 and 2 of the London bound carriageway will be closed 24/7 between junctions 4 and 3.

There will also be a 50mph limit in place for lanes 3 and 4.

During the same period there will be overnight closures between junctions 4a and 3from 9pm until 6am every day.

Traffic management and closure information

Wednesday 3 January to Thursday 4 January

Full overnight closure of the London-bound M3 between junctions 4a and 3, 9pm to 6am

Thursday 4 January - February 2024

24/7 closure of lane one and two on the London-bound carriageway between junction 4 and 3, with a 50mph speed limit on lanes 3 and 4

Overnight (including weekends) full closures of the London-bound M3 between junctions 4a and 3, 9pm to 6am

Diversion routes

Emergency service access will be retained during the London-bound full overnight closures. All our diversion routes have been planned with and approved by Surrey and Hampshire County Councils, to ensure they're free from roadworks and suitable for all vehicles.

London bound full closure between junction 4a and 3:

All vehicles exit at M3 junction 4a onto the A327 for approximately 1.8 miles, turn right onto the A30 continue for approximately 7.1 miles and turn right onto Grove end link road, turning left onto the A322, before turning left to rejoin the M3 London bound at junction 3.

London bound on-slip closure of junction 4 (approaching from Frimley):

All vehicles from junction 4, continue along the A331 and then turn right onto the A30 London Road. After approximately 4.5 miles turn right onto the A322 and then rejoin the M3 London bound at junction 3.
