Surrey Police say several Woking officers have been assaulted on the job this month
The Borough Commander is asking people to show consideration to emergency workers
Surrey Police say there have a number of assaults on officers in Woking over the last few weeks,
The Borough Commander says being assaulted is not part of the job and is asking people to show consideration to emergency workers.
In a post on Facebook Surrey Police say the following assaults have happened during April:
18 April- A female officer was kicked in the arm causing an obvious injury as she assisted colleagues when they were trying to arrest a suspect in Kingsfield for public order offences. The suspect was eventually arrested and taken into custody.
21 April- At 1am while being taken to custody following an arrest in Chertsey Road, Woking for breach of the peace, a suspect assaulted an officer by kicking him in the groin.
22 April- At 6.45pm the arrest of a suspect for a domestic incident in Hipley Street, Woking has led to the assault of three officers who were all left with injuries consistent with Actual Bodily Harm.
Woking Borough Commander, Inspector David Bentley, said:
“Sadly assaults on police officers simply carrying out their job are not rare as the figures from this week demonstrate.
"Being assaulted is not part of the job and I would like to remind people to please treat all emergency workers with consideration as they carry out their work.
“All assaults on police officers, staff and volunteers are treated with the same care, compassion and commitment as an assault on a member of the public.”
