Senior Surrey Police officer issued final warning over misconduct relating to workplace relationship
An independent investigation found he had a case to answer for
A senior Surrey Police officer has been issued with a final written warning over misconduct relating to a workplace relationship.
A private hearing concluded Deputy Chief Constable Nev Kemp was found to have breached standards of professional behaviour by not informing bosses of the relationship which had the potential to cause a conflict of interest.
National and local policy dictates such relationships should be disclosed and an independent investigation found he had a case to answer for misconduct.
Chief Constable Gavin Stephens said: “This is a proportionate outcome. DCC Kemp did fall short of the standards expected of a senior police officer, but through his own admission has accepted his responsibility and has apologised for his actions.
“He remains in his role and is committed to serving the public of Surrey.”
The final written warning will be valid for two years.
