Majority of children offered place at preferred choice secondary school in Surrey and Hampshire
Parents received the outcome of their applications this week.
Parents in our area have been receiving the outcomes of secondary school applications for Year 7s starting this September.
Over 95% in Surrey and over 98% in Hampshire were offered a place at one of their preferred choices.
For their first choice school, over 90% in Hampshire were successful - in Surrey, it was over 80%.
Hampshire County Councillor Roz Chadd, Executive Member for Education and Skills said:
"I am very pleased that despite the rising demand for school places, yet again, the vast majority of Hampshire pupils will be going to one of their preferred secondary schools this autumn. This is due in no small part to the continued investment by Hampshire County Council in expanding our schools to keep pace with the growth in pupil numbers, which has continued over the past year despite pandemic restrictions.
"Every parent who has applied for a place at a Hampshire secondary school for their child has received an offer, but with more than nine in 10 of our schools rated good or outstanding by OFSTED, there are always individual schools with exceptional demand.
"I recognise there will be some disappointment for those who have not secured a preferred choice place, and in this situation, I'd ask parents to get in touch via our website to look at further options."
