Road in Godalming shuts after it began to melt in extreme heat
A road in Godalming is closed 'until further notice' after it began to melt during Monday's extreme heat (18 July).
Portsmouth Road has been shut for safety reasons between Ockford Road and Church Lane.
Godalming Town Council say vital repairs are being carried out ASAP to avoid further damage.
Thermometers in parts of England could rise to 41°C today (19 July).
It could be 36°C in Surrey and Hampshire by lunchtime.
Much of the country's still covered by the first ever red warning for 'extreme heat'.
The high temperatures have led to health concerns, school closures and travel disruption, with trains having to run a lot slower.
