Richmond man found guilty of murder
Oliver Muldowney will be sentenced at a later date, following the stabbing in May 2021
A man has been convicted of murder after Tim Hipperson named his killer with his dying breath.
Oliver Muldowney, 35, of Richmond was found guilty of murder on Friday (1 July) following a trial at the Old Bailey. He had earlier pleaded guilty to being concerned with the supply of heroin and crack cocaine.
Another man, Jonathan David Nash, 36, of Feltham was found guilty of two counts of being concerned with the supply of heroin and crack cocaine.
They will be sentenced at a later date.
Detective Inspector Maria Green, who led the investigation said: "My thoughts are with Tim’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time. Tim may have had struggles in life but he has always been a much loved son, brother and friend.
"In the immediate aftermath of the attack, as he stumbled onto King’s Road, he was able to name the man who had stabbed him. He said 'Olly' and this was captured on the body worn video of one of the first officers on the scene. Within days Oliver Muldowney was arrested and charged despite his attempts to evade justice.
"Muldowney was motivated by jealousy and Tim Hipperson paid the price for that jealousy with his life. Muldowney was convinced his partner was seeing other men, with Tim being one of them. Determined to avenge his bruised ego, Muldowney killed Tim in an alleyway. He then attempted to bribe Tim’s friend, who was a witness to the attack, with drugs and money but it didn’t work. He did the right thing and spoke up for his friend."
The court heard that police captured the moment that Tim Hipperson named 'Olly' as the man who stabbed him at about 15:45hrs on 17 May 2021.
Tim had made his way along King’s Road following the attack where members of the public attempted to give first aid and called emergency services.
Earlier in the evening, a friend had arranged to purchase drugs from Muldowney for Tim and himself. Tim and the friend travelled to Peldon Passage to meet Muldowney to buy the drugs.
When Tim and his friend arrived at the location they were met by Nash and the deal took place. Nash then headed back to where Muldowney was waiting.
Muldowney made his way to the alleyway where Tim and his friend had remained to take the drugs they had just bought. Muldowney then is believed to have made a comment to Tim suggesting that he believed he had been having a relationship with a woman that Muldowney had also been in a long-term relationship with.
Muldowney then stabbed Tim multiple time, the fatal blow being to the left axilla.
Following the attack, Tim was taken to hospital where he died from his injuries on 20 May 2021.
As Tim was receiving first aid, Muldowney and Nash ran to an address where a taxi was phoned for Muldowney so he could flee the scene. When police searched this address they found Muldowney’s phone wrapped in tinfoil and hidden away in a black shoebox containing children’s toys.
Later that same evening, after killing Tim, Muldowney offered Tim’s friend, and witness to the murder, drugs and money to leave the area. Tim’s friend instead helped police with their investigation.
Over 18 to 19 May 2021, police visited nine addresses associated with Muldowney. On the evening of 21 May 2021 officers located Muldowney at a hotel in Reading. Nash was arrested on 21 May 2021.
