The Royal Horticultural Society says it has had to close RHS Garden Wisley this afternoon (8 December).

It is due to an "unforeseen utilities issue" and means tonight's Glow event has been cancelled.

The gardens say they are currently working to rectify the situation and expect to reopen the garden as normal tomorrow (9 December).

Ticket holders for Glow this evening are being contacted and will be offered a refund or a change of date.

In a statement the RHS said: "We are sorry for the frustration and disappointment this causes visitors, however this decision was taken on the advice of the utilities provider to ensure the safety of everyone at the garden.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused but the safety of our visitors is our priority."
