The Queen's Commonwealth Games baton relay will arrive in Aldershot today (6 July).

The relay is set to travel the length and breadth of England for a total of 29 days, before culminating at the Opening Ceremony for Birmingham 2022 on 28 July 2022.

Timetable

The Queen’s Baton Relay will arrive near the Fox Lines car park in Queens Avenue at round 12.45pm before making its way to Aldershot Military Stadium for a sports celebration event involving hundreds of local schoolchildren.

It will leave the stadium at 1.15pm.

Rushmoor Borough Council’s Cabinet member for Democracy, Strategy and Partnerships, Councillor Sue Carter, said:

“It’s a real honour for us to have the Queen’s Baton Relay visiting Rushmoor, and we have enjoyed working closely with colleagues from the Garrison and our local schools to set up this event – one that our local schoolchildren will remember for the rest of their lives.

"I’m sure our community will join us on the streets in big numbers as we celebrate this wonderful occasion.”

Thousands of Batonbearers, each with inspiring backgrounds and stories, will have the honour of carrying the Baton during the journey through England, including those nominated in recognition of their contributions to their local community.

Between 40 and 130 Batonbearers will carry the Baton each day, and the Relay will reach hundreds of villages, towns and cities during its tour of the country.

Travelling via land, air and sea, more than 180 communities in England will experience the Queen’s Baton on a route spanning 2,500 miles.
