A local Hampshire GP has been surprised with a phone call from the Duke of Cambridge this week.
In a post on Facebook on Thursday (21 January) Oakley Health Group revealed that Prince William called Managing Partner, Dr Gareth Robinson to thank the staff for their hard work during the pandemic.
The Duke wanted to pass on his congratulations and appreciation to everyone involved in the Yateley vaccination service for their efforts and the support they are giving to local residents.
The post added that the pair also discussed the vaccine programme and the pandemic in general, as well as touching on the issue of mental health.
Following the call, Dr Gareth Robinson said:
“It was a privilege to be able to tell the Duke of Cambridge about the amazing efforts being made locally by the whole community to vaccinate our vulnerable patients as quickly as possible.
“He was very interested to hear about the setup we have in Yateley. We also talked about the effect that the pandemic was having on people’s mental health and how local patients have faced the challenges brought about by shielding and isolation”
“It was a real boost in morale for the whole practice team and volunteers to know that he was interested in the vaccine roll-out process.”
The Yateley vaccination centre, at the Monteagle Surgery site, was the first GP-led vaccination centre to launch in the Frimley Health and Care system, on 15 December.
