More than half a million pounds has been awarded the local Citizen’s Advice charities across Surrey.

The County Council say it's part of their ambition to ensure that No-One is Left Behind.

The funding will enable the CA to increase their support to Surrey residents around budgeting, debt and benefits advice and ensuring that people are making the most of what they are entitled to, providing support to manage difficult situations.

The funding will also go towards providing more training for CA staff and volunteers so they can continue to provide skilled support to those communities most in need.

Councillor Mark Nuti, Cabinet Member for Communities said:

“No One Left Behind is about helping those who need us most, and improving quality of life for everyone.

"Our ambition is to help everyone in Surrey make the most of the opportunities on offer in our county. Now, and in the future.

"This grant to local CA charities is about getting help and support out into the heart of our communities where it’s needed most.

"We recognise the invaluable work CA across the county do to help support our residents and so it was important to us to support them at a time when demand on their services is increasing.

Deborah Jones, chair of the local CA Surrey Manager group said:

“These are tough times and for some people, the choices they are facing are very stark indeed. At Citizens Advice we believe no one should have to make decisions without good quality, independent advice.

"We are delighted to be working in partnership with Surrey County Council and in receipt of this funding which will help us to put advice where people need it most to help them in finding a way forward”.
