Police stop sixteen planned burglaries in Surrey

Three people have been charged with conspiracy to commit Burglary

Three people have been charged with multiple counts of conspiracy to commit burglary. They were charged after special police teams across the county joined with local officers to carry out warrants at several address this week.

Martin Kawley, 22, of Heathervale Way, New Haw, and Shannon Purcell, 18, of Cotterills Road, Tipton, were both charged with 19 counts of conspiracy to commit burglary between 6 October and 19 December. These relate to 16 offences in Surrey, two in Hertfordshire and one in Warwickshire.

Tadgh Finley, 23 (DOB 04/08/1999), who resides in Ireland, was charged with seven counts of conspiracy to commit burglary between 17 and 19 December.

Kawley and Finley have both been remanded into custody. Purcell has been released on court bail with conditions.

They will next appear in court on 19 January 2023.

Detective Inspector James Ansell, who leads the North Surrey Proactive Priority Crime Team, said: “We know burglaries can have a huge impact on victims. Tackling this crime type is one of our Force priorities, my team works closely with our local Safer Neighbourhood Teams, intelligence teams and cross border resources to investigate burglaries across the county.”
