Police in Surrey say they're investigating a spate of keyless car thefts in Cobham.

A Mercedes was stolen from the driveway of a house on Pony Chase and two BMWs were taken from Sandy Lane.

Officers say they think the thefts are linked and are likely to have been committed by the same suspects.

Inspector Bert Dean, Borough Commander for Elmbridge said “We are currently reviewing CCTV from the local area and carrying out wider enquiries. We are asking for the public who live in that area or may have been driving around that area last night to review their CCTV and dashcam footage.

“You may think that footage you have is insignificant, but it will be useful for us to build a picture of routes the suspects may have taken after stealing these vehicles.

“Unfortunately, keyless car thefts are something we are dealing with fairly regularly so there is a lot of work going on at Surrey Police to look into what we can do to prevent keyless car thefts and improve the way we investigate them.

“We advise that the public keep their keys in a signal blocking pouch such as a faraday bag which can be purchased fairly cheaply.”
