Police investigate armed robbery in Farncombe

Police are investigating an armed robbery outside the Co-op in Farncombe.

Officers were called to St Johns Street on Friday, 7 January following reports of a robbery which happened at around 9am.

The victim, who worked for a security company was transporting a box containing cash into the store when they were approached by a man carrying a firearm.

The victim then dropped the box before the suspect picked it up and ran off.

The victim was unharmed but left shaken.

An investigation is underway to identify the individual involved.

The suspect was wearing a grey tracksuit, and believed to be a white man.

Officers have since discovered the stolen box, which was found a short distance away.

Investigating Officer, Detective Constable Hastings said

“Enquiries remain ongoing in this investigation and we are now appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious on Friday, 7 January near Unstead Lane to contact us.

“This is quite a remote area which is mostly used by dog walkers so we’re hoping that anyone who may have witnessed the disposal of this box would be able to remember and then contact us to assist with our enquiries.

“As well as this, anyone with any further information which could help, we urge you to contact us as a matter of urgency”.
