Investigating officers are appealing for a group of witnesses to come forward after they helped a woman in Farnborough after she was assaulted.

Police were called to a report that a woman had been punched by a man known to her inside a van as it travelled from Eversley to Farnborough at around 8.30pm on Saturday 8 March.

When the van approached the roundabout at the junction of Hawley Lane and Farnborough Road, the woman got out.

A group of men in their 20s/30s intervened and told the man to leave the woman alone and later walked her to Frimley High Street at around 8.45pm.

The woman, who is in her 20s, had suffered bruises and cuts to her arms, shoulders and legs.

Officers say they know the incident took place last month, however new information has just come to light and they are hoping to speak with the group who helped the woman.

Detectives believe the men may have vital information which could help the investigation.

As part of enquiries, a 31-year-old man from Yateley was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm, kidnap, engaging in controlling / coercive behaviour and false imprisonment.

He has been bailed with conditions, pending further enquiries.
