A photography exhibition by Ukrainian women opens next week in Guildford.

UNBOWED: Stories of Ukraine is a compelling photography project born from the resilient spirits of Ukrainian women in Surrey, who united through an arts-for-wellbeing programme at Farnham arts charity, Creative Response.

The project chronicles the deeply personal journeys of individuals who have left behind their homes, friends, and family in Ukraine. It explores their experiences of navigating life in the UK while grappling with the enduring trauma or war.

Natalia Sharomova, the lead artist for the project, explained: “This photo project is about gentle and resolute women. These are not only our stories. I believe they can support and inspire others not to give up, even if you have lost everything.”

Annabel Miller, studio and gallery manager at New House Art Space and Gallery said: “New House Art Space is thrilled to host this powerful exhibition. It holds immense political and emotional significance in these challenging times marked by conflict,”

The UNBOWED: Stories of Ukraine project has been made possible by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. It is on from 20th December 2024 to 12th January 2025 at New House Art Space & Gallery, Fays Passage, Guildford.
