Pedestrian dies in Woking following suspected hit and run

A pedestrian has been killed following a suspected hit and run in Woking.

Emergency services were called to Maybury Hill at around 10.40pm on Monday night (8 July) following reports that a person had been struck by a vehicle and the driver had fled the scene.

South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended, but the pedestrian was declared dead at the scene.

A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of a collision, driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs, and causing death by careless driving while unfit.

Surrey Police have appealed for witnesses, dashcam or helmet cam footage, or to speak to anyone who may have any information.

Officers are particularly interested in tracing the movements of a black Mercedes.
