Paramedic charged over fatal crash in Surrey

A paramedic has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving following a crash in Surrey back in 2021.

Surrey Police say 40 year old Craig Chitty was driving a South East Coast Ambulance at the time but was not responding to an emergency.

39-year-old Carmel Ryder died following the collision which happened while she was waiting at a bus stop in Brighton Road in Redhill on 5 August 2021.

Chitty is due to appear at Guildford Magistrates’ Court on 6 October.
