A number of homes around Guildford are facing fresh issues with their water supply.

Over the last week thousands of homes around Surrey were left without water due an issue with Thames Water but most have had their supply restored.

But for others disruption continues as Thames Water released a statement on Thursday night (9 November) saying that they have fixed the original fault at their Shalford works but now there is a separate issue at Ladymead Water Treatment Works north of Guildford.

People the GU1 and GU2 area are the mostly likely to be impacted.

The water company have apologised but say they're not sure when water supplies will be back.

Thames Water have released a list of the affected post codes.

An update on the supplier's website at 9pm on Thursday read:

"We’ve fixed the original fault at our Shalford works, but are very sorry to say a separate issue is causing problems at Ladymead Water Treatment Works, to the north of Guildford.

"This could affect customers in the GU1 and GU2 postcodes, shown in the map below. We’ve also provided a full list of postcodes of areas which may be impacted.

"We’re very aware how disruptive this will be for customers affected by these continuing service problems.

"At this stage we can’t say when supplies will be back on, but we’re doing all we can to achieve this.

"We’ve now closed our bottled water stations for the day – please check back here tomorrow for locations and details.

"We’ll issue compensation automatically to customers in line with our Customer Guarantee Scheme, and payments will be made within one month."

Guildford MP Angela Richardson says she has written a letter to Thames Water on behalf of her constituents, in a post on Facebook she said:

"I am making your voices heard as I have today written to the Co-CEOs of Thames Water, requesting an urgent public meeting in Guildford with residents in order for Thames Water to explain what has gone so badly wrong with the water supply in the last week.

"I conveyed concerns that residents have raised, including the vagueness, timeliness, and accuracy of the updates that have been made.

"I would like Thames Water to clarify the source of the incident and ensure work is being done to prevent anything like this from happening again.
