A project to reduce congestion and meet future travel demands in and around Farnborough is now complete.

The scheme by Hampshire and Rushmoor councils has created a new left-in/left-out access between Invincible Road and the A327 Elles Road.

This provides a second point of access to Invincible Road to relieve congestion at the access to Invincible Road at its junction with Solartron Road.

Councillor Rob Humby, Deputy Leader of Hampshire County Council and Executive Member for Economy, Transport and Environment and Transport, said: “Congestion in the Farnborough area is a significant issue, and we are looking to address this through improving traffic flow, including works at junctions so that the network better meets demand.

“We have been able to identify the areas that need the most urgent attention, and the measures to also support economic growth, with the funding currently available.”

Work began in August 2020 and was complete in October 2020.

Councillor Martin Tennant, Rushmoor Borough Council's Cabinet member for Major Projects and Property, added: "Traffic issues around this area and the roads leading onto the industrial estate have been a bone of contention for our residents for some time, and so we are absolutely delighted to get this important project finished.

"We've worked closely with our colleagues from Hampshire County Council to design and implement a scheme which improves traffic flow and cuts congestion significantly."
