Data has been released this morning detailing levels of debt for local authorities around the country.

The data shows local authorities across the country added £7.8bn to their growing debt pile in the space of a year.

However none added more debt than Surrey County Council, over the course of the last twelve months, they added £346,584,000 to their debt.

A spokesperson for the council says "costs of all the key services are rising, and there is more to do to set a balanced budget next year."

Meanwhile three Surrey councils feature in the top ten for most debt per person, including Woking topping that list.
