Colourful mural unveiled in Camberley

It celebrates local history and landmarks

A hand painted mural has been unveiled in Camberley that celebrates the local area.

You can find it near Boots outside the Sparvell Way entrance.

The Square Camberley commissioned artist Kev Munday to complete the unique piece of art.

The mural depicts local attractions – celebrating the area and Camberley’s history.

Local references include:

  • The white elephant statue
  • Camberley Kate - a famous local character who used to walk through the town with up to 25 stray dogs
  • The Obelisk
  • The Agincourt Rock Club
  • The new leisure centre
  • Sandhurst Military Academy
  • The no.1 bus
  • Elmhurst Ballet School - was a part of the town for 80 years until 2004
  • The Basingstoke Canal
  • The Rock Box record shop - one of the oldest in the area
  • St Michael's Church
  • Blackbushe Airport

Rhoda Joseph, Centre Manager, The Square Camberley, said:

“We’re thrilled to unveil the brand-new mural here at The Square Camberley and we can’t thank Kev enough for all his hard work.

"The vibrant piece of art has proved to be a real talking point for Camberley, with many pieces included to reference key attractions and landmarks.

"The unique artwork has been signed by Kev and took a total of four days to complete, totally transforming the Sparvell Way entrance into the shopping centre.

"During what’s been a difficult time, we really hope the new mural will put a smile on our visitor's faces and provide a sense of pride for the local community.”
