New app launches to support Guildford
Among its features are listings for local businesses and community events
It is hoped a new app will help Guildford's recovery from the pandemic by boosting businesses and showcasing the town.
Local firms can already list themselves via 'The Guildford App', which saw 7,000 downloads in the first 48 hours following its launch.
Companies can also use it to sell products online, with the platform aimed at providing a central location for shoppers and customers to find them.
Jonathan Bird, owner of Delivered Social, explains it is not just for those you will find on the High Street, saying: “We wanted this to be ‘the Guildford app’, so if you were looking for a solicitor you could find it on The Guildford App, if you were looking for an advertising opportunity you could find it on The Guildford App.
“So many businesses, just because they don’t have a physical premises, doesn’t mean they aren’t worth of being on there and they absolutely are.”
Among other features is a guide for both virtual and physical events, when the later is allowed again, and information for visitors.
Jonathan added: “The idea was a community project for the community, rather than being a cost project that actually people paid money for or was supported or anything along those lines.
“We’re very, very proud of the fact it’s been a ‘zero cost’ initiative and very, very proud that no money has transacted at all between anyone involved.”
