Woking Football Club have announced Neal Ardley has been appointed as their new manager.

The 52-year-old replaces Michael Doyle, who was sacked after the Surrey side lost 4-0 to Gateshead last week.

Ardley takes over with Woking 19th in the table, and just a point above the National League relegation zone.

The new coach has had a number of roles across League One, League Two and in non-league football. He is perhaps best known for a six-year spell as AFC Wimbledon manager, leading the South-West London side to promotion to League One in 2016.

He has also led Notts County and Solihull Moors to play-off finals.

The club's Director Of Football Jody Brown said: "The diversity of his journey illustrates his flexibility, his promotions and playoff achievements tell us that he can take us to where we hope to be one day, and his battles with relegation and team rebuilding processes are all invaluable experiences that he’ll have learned from.

"Neal has the values we want in our head coach. He brings a pragmatism to improve our current position, but also the principles and coaching philosophy to be able to help us evolve into what we want to be in the future.”

Ardley will take charge of his first game on Saturday against Altrincham.
