Climate activists have vandalised petrol pumps after blocking two motorway forecourts.

Just Stop Oil says 35 people were involved in the incident early on Thursday morning (28 April) at Cobham Services in Surrey and Clacket Lane Services in Kent.

Supporters have smashed display glass and covered it in spray paint.

Police say eight arrests have been made on suspicion of criminal damage and aggravated trespass so far and more are expected throughout the day.

Officers with specialist removal equipment are working to ensure that all protesters are removed safely, after a number of them glued themselves to pumps and signs on the petrol station forecourts.

One of them has also glued himself to the top of a lorry.

The pumps have all been switched off and motorists were diverted away from both service stations.
