Motorcyclist killed in six-vehicle M3 crash

Police say the section of motorway has now reopened

A motorcyclist has died following a six-vehicle crash on the M3 this morning.

The multi-vehicle collision, including a motorcycle, took place on the northbound carriageway at Junction 3 around 6.17am.

The motorcyclist was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His family are aware and are being supported by officers.

No one else was injured.

The road was closed while emergency services were at the scene and investigations took place.

Update at 3pm: The motorway has now reopened.

We would like to thank everyone for their patience and cooperation whilst officers dealt with the incident and the vehicles were recovered. The investigation is ongoing.

Officers have asked anyone with information or dashcam footage of the incident to call 101, quoting P20283987.

Earlier, a diversion route was put in place.
