Mother convicted over death of newborn girl in Aldershot park

A mother has been found guilty of killing her newborn daughter who was found dead in a park in Aldershot.
24-year-old Babita Rai of Reeves Road in Aldershot was cleared of murdering the child who was found with multiple skull fractures in Manor Park in May 2017.
Today (20 May) she was found guilty of infanticide following a two-week trial at Winchester Crown Court.
A post-mortem found that the baby's cause of death was blunt force injuries to her head, inflicted shortly after birth.
Rai is due to be sentenced later this year and has been remanded in custody.
