More wet and windy weather is set to sweep across the UK today (20 February) as thousands of homes remain without power following storm Eunice.

A yellow warning for wind is in place for most of the country with 70 mile-per-hour winds forecast.

The alert which starts at midday and ends at 3pm on Monday (21 February) covers Surrey and East Hampshire.

In our area we could see gusts of up to 50mph.

The yellow warning comes just a few days after the South East saw its first ever red alert on Friday (18 February).

Storm Eunice caused severe disruption with trees blocking roads and trains cancelled across the region.

The Met Office explains what to expect

Some delays to road, rail, and ferry transport are likely.

Delays or restrictions for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely.

It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves.

Some damage to infrastructure and trees/branches is possible, especially where made more vulnerable by Storm Eunice.

Power outages are possible, and efforts to restore power to areas which have had interrupted supply in the wake of Storm Eunice are likely to be hampered
