Last updated 8th Feb 2021
Several weather warnings for snow are in place for the next few days across Surrey and East Hampshire.
The yellow alerts are up until the end of Wednesday (10 February).
The Met Office predicts frequent snow showers - although some places could miss them altogether.
It is also going to be bitterly cold with daytime temperatures struggling to get much above 0°C - with a wind chill factor making it feel even colder.
Today's forecast for much of the area is for highs of around -1°C, dropping to lows of around -2°C.
There is a risk of travel disruption, with icy surfaces forming on untreated roads and pavements.
It comes as cold air emanating from Russia and Eastern Europe moves across the UK, with Storm Darcy bringing strong winds and snow to the South East with an amber warning issued for parts of Kent, the East including Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk, parts of the East Midlands, and Yorkshire and Humber.
The Met Office five day forecast for the South East:
Today:
Snow showers will continue, with further accumulations and drifting. Strong easterly winds, with gales along Kent coasts. Feeling bitterly cold. Daytime temperatures struggling to reach above freezing. Maximum temperature 0 °C.
Tonight:
Further snow showers will move west across the region on a moderate easterly breeze, with accumulations to all levels. Feeling very cold overnight with a hard frost and icy conditions. Minimum temperature -4 °C.
Tuesday:
Wintry showers continuing but becoming fewer. Icy stretches remain likely with bitterly cold fresh easterly winds. Some winter sunshine between showers. Another hard overnight frost. Maximum temperature 1 °C.
Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:
Wintry showers initially on Wednesday, becoming light then clearing later. Drier and bright on Thursday, with a risk of snow again Friday. Bitterly cold with hard frosts and icy stretches.
