The initiative got underway las Wednesday (2 December) at Guildford Crematorium in New Pond Road in Godalming.

The trees and message tags will be located in the Remembrance Court next to the Book of Remembrance and the Flower Room at the newly built Crematorium.

Families are invited to visit to write a tag in person.

Or you can submit messages online here or by post on a small card to Guildford Crematorium, New Pond Road, Godalming, Surrey GU7 3DB.

Lead Councillor for the Environment, Cllr James Steel says: "The last few months have been an extremely challenging time for many of our residents, and those in neighbouring boroughs who have lost family members and friends during the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

"We hope that the memorial trees will allow our residents to share some happy memories of their loved ones this Christmas."
