Man seriously injured in Guildford attack

Police are appealing for witnesses, after an assault in Guildford on Saturday, 26 July.

Officers were called to North Street, near to the junction with Ward Street, shortly after 11.30pm, following a report from South East Coast Ambulance Service that a man had sustained injuries at the location.

The victim, a man his 30s, was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-changing. He is in a stable condition and remains in hospital while he recovers.

A 35-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with this incident and has been taken to police custody.

As part of enquiries, police are now looking to speak to anyone who might have been in the area at the time and have witnessed the incident.

Detective Inspector Lucy Salmon said: “There has been a significant police presence in Guildford town centre today and I understand this will have caused some concern. Our teams are working hard to establish the full circumstances of what’s happened and at this point, we’re able to confirm the victim and suspect are known to each.

“Officers will remain in the area this afternoon to conduct enquiries and I’d encourage you to speak with them if you have any concerns.”
