Man dies in hospital five days after being hit by van in Farnham

He had suffered serious head injuries in the incident

A man who suffered serious head injuries after being involved in a collision in Farnham has died.

The pedestrian in his 40s was hit by a van in Ridgeway Road on the evening of 14 May and taken to hospital.

Surrey Police today (25 May) confirmed that he passed away on 19 May as a result of his injuries.

The driver of the silver Volkswagen Transporter van, a man in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit to do so through drink or drugs, driving whilst over the specified limit for drugs and dangerous driving.

He has been interviewed and released under investigation.

Both the van driver and a passenger in the vehicle were uninjured in the incident.

In a statement officers said: “We are continuing to appeal for anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the collision or has any other information or dashcam footage to come forward as soon as possible.
