Man charged with possession of imitation firearm at Surrey Travelodge

A man has been charged with possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence after an incident at a Travelodge in Surrey.

33-year-old George Ciprian Anitoaie of Dorking has also been charged with assault on an emergency worker.

It follows an incident at the Dorking branch of the hotel chain in the early hours of Sunday (5 September).

He was remanded in custody to appear at Guildford Magistrates Court today (6 September).

Officers attended the Travelodge shortly after 4am following initial reports of a noise disturbance.
