Man charged after wine taken and woman pushed in Fleet supermarket

Police investigating reports of an assault and shoplifting from a Fleet supermarket have charged a man.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary were called to the Morrisons store on Fleet Road at around 7am on Saturday.

A woman had reportedly been pushed to the floor and a bottle of wine taken.

John Edward Dorey, 52, of Church Grove, Fleet, has been charged with assault by beating and theft from a shop.

He is also accused of using threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm, or distress.

Dorey has been bailed with conditions and is due before Basingstoke Magistrates Court on 3 September.
