A local hospice charity is looking for volunteers to help them care for patients living with a terminal illness like cancer.

Phyllis Tuckwell's is the only Hospice care service for adult patients and their families across the whole of West Surrey and North East Hampshire.

Phyllis Tuckwell’s volunteers help in all areas of its work, from Doctors and Complementary Therapists who give their time to provide clinical care, to Drivers who collect patients from home and bring them to the Hospice or Beacon Centre for appointments.

Its Home Support volunteers visit patients at home once a week, providing company and practical help which are hugely appreciated, especially by those who live alone or have mobility difficulties.

Phyllis Tuckwell’s Retail Assistants serve customers in its 17 shops, while its Receptionists welcome patients and visitors to the Hospice and Beacon Centre. The charity’s Estates team is also always keen to find volunteers who are willing to help out with manual tasks, from putting up shelves to painting walls and fixing plumbing.

Various and flexible hours are available for all of Phyllis Tuckwell’s volunteering positions, so you can ensure your new role fits around your other commitments.

“We love our volunteers!” said Julia Morpeth, Voluntary Services Manager at Phyllis Tuckwell. “Their enthusiasm and commitment are inspiring, and our patients and families love chatting to them. They are so important, bringing a wide array of skills to the charity, and giving their time and energy so generously.”
