Surrey artists are being asked to donate a piece of work as a part of an exhibition to raise money for a local hospice.

The Sam Beare Hospice is hosting their annual exhibition which will take over the Lightbox in Woking in early February next year.

The exhibition will be over a three-week period from 4th – 22nd February, 2026 and will be open to the public.

The exhibition is a chance for local artists to gain some high-profile exposure whilst raising valuable funds for the Hospice.

There will be a cash prize of £500 for the artist’s work that shows most talent and best encapsulates the theme of the exhibition – ‘Inspiration for Life’.

Felicity Edwards, who is the event manager at the Sam Beare Hospice in Woking, explains the choice of theme.

"The idea of this theme is that it is really wide and gives artists the inspiration to do whatever they like that fits with it and we hope it'll be an uplifting, life-affirming exhibition showing just the whole variety of art that's out there."

Felicity also told us why the event is so significant for the hospice as well as the artists.

" The proceeds from all of the art sales will come to the hospice. So it's a really, really important event from that point of view.

And a lovely way for the hospice to engage with our creative community, because there's a huge amount of talent out there in the locality and it's a great showcase for them."

Felicity says that nearly all types of art are welcome for submission, as well as the fact that the variety of art the exhibition has seen during its previous years had been huge

"Who knows what will come through the door this time, but the last two years we've had a really wonderful diversity of art from abstracts and more contemporary themed items to more traditional landscapes and local scenes. We've had some more textile based, different media used.

All we ask is 2D so that we can hang it on the wall because that's what we've got"

Submissions for the exhibition will be open until Christmas.
