10 hectares damaged during heathland fire in Aldershot

Firefighters from across Hampshire and Surrey have been dealing with a large fire in Aldershot.

Crews were called to an area of grassland off of Bourley Road at shortly before midday on Thursday (1 June).

Residents were asked to avoid Jubilee Hill and Long Valley areas.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue say around 10 hectares of heathland and gorse have been damaged.

The fire was extinguished by around 7pm but crews remained on the scene dampening down the area.
