After multiple incidents of keyless car thefts in Surrey, police are advising owners to be vigilant.

Earlier this week a car was stolen in Camberley and in Cheam.

What happened?

The first car (a BMW) was stolen from an address in Camberley on the evening of 5 April. The vehicle was stopped on the 6 April and the driver has been charged with motoring offences.

The second car (a Range Rover) was taken from an address in Cheam on the evening of 6 April. It was found abandoned nearby early the following morning.

Both the cars were located and are being returned to their rightful owners.

Surrey Police advises owners of "keyless" cars to store their keys in a metal tin, or "faraday pouch", ideally away from the entrance to the house.
