Ken Bruce helps host Surrey Hospice event
The new Greatest Hits Radio presenter hosted a big band event in aid of Princess Alice Hospice in Esher.
Legendary radio presenter Ken Bruce, who is starting in his new role at Greatest Hits Radio today, hosted an event that raised money for the Princess Alice Hospice in Esher.
On the 25th March, the Ember Big Band raised the roof with a performance at The Hampton Theatre.
The band celebrated 60 years of popular music, covering artists such as Paul McCartney, Duke Ellington, Otis Redding and Queen.
The band, who are celebrating their tenth anniversary, is made up of over 20 musicians and 3 singers.
Debi Oliver, who is an ambassador for the hospice, also spoke poignantly about the care provided to her daughter, who received end-of-life care back in 2019.
**"The tickets flew off the shelf which was brilliant, and people had an amazing night."**
Claire Woodward, who is the community partnerships and events lead at Princess Alice Hospice, explained why it was so important that Ken took part in the event.
"Ken was absolutely hilarious. We know how good he in on the radio, but seeing him face-to-face as well, he was just very very funny, absolutely charming."
"The tickets flew off the shelf which was brilliant, and people had an amazing night. They were so excited to see such a legend, such a British treasure, supporting the hospice - so we were very grateful to Ken."
