Investigation after skip lorries on fire in Epsom

An investigation is underway, after a large fire at an address in Epsom last night (25 June), which is believed to have been started deliberately.
Police were called to assist colleagues from Surrey Fire and Rescue Service around 10.30pm following reports that several lorries at Skip It in College Road were on fire. Nobody was injured.
Road closures remain in place at the junctions with Longdown Lane and Reigate Road and officers are asking people to avoid the area.
Epsom and Ewell Borough Commander, Inspector Tommy Pearson said: “We received several reports of large explosions last night and I know this will have caused serious concern within the community. I would like to reassure residents that we are investigating thoroughly to establish the circumstances and find those responsible. If you have any information, I urge you to get in touch with the police.”

A Surrey Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We’ve been dealing with a large fire in College Road, Epsom since yesterday evening (Wednesday 25 June).
“Two fire engines are currently on site to dampen down, and we expect to be at the scene for a while longer.
“Road closures remain in place at the junctions with Longdown Lane and Reigate Road.
“Please avoid the area if you can.
“The fire is thought to be deliberate, which Surrey Police are investigating”
