Investigation launched into A3 collision that killed a woman
Send and Guildford junctions were closed in both directions from the early hours of Tuesday and into the afternoon
An investigation has been launched after a woman died in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday, 11 January).
Police were called to the A3 between the Send Junction and Guildford Junction at around 1.30am following reports of a pedestrian being struck by a car. The woman, 24, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed.
An investigation has been launched following this incident and remains ongoing.
The matter has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to previous contact between the woman and Surrey Police.
Detective Inspector Suzanne Neilson from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the young woman’s family and friends at this difficult time. We’d like to extend our appreciation to the public for their patience as we dealt with the incident. We are asking anyone who may have information which could assist the investigation to get in touch with us.”
