After over 11,400 flights covering more than 45 million miles a jumbo jet will touch down for the final time later in Surrey.

The 747, which was part of British Airway's fleet, is arriving at Dunsfold Aerodrome from Cardiff this afternoon (22 October).

After landing for the last time at the home of Top Gear the aircraft will then become a TV and film set.

Due to coronavirus restrictions the airfield is not allowing people in to watch it touch down, but will stream it on Facebook instead.

The aircraft, which will be the second 747 housed at Dunsfold, is scheduled to land at 2.15pm, subject to change.

Jim McAllister, Chief Executive, Dunsfold Aerodrome, comments: “The 747 is a unique and important piece of aviation history and we are excited to be taking delivery of this retired aircraft at Dunsfold Aerodrome.

“Whilst G-CIVW will no longer fly, the aircraft will be preserved and given a new lease of life in the world of TV and film, training and special events.”
