Care for pregnant women and young children across Hampshire is changing for the better with the brand new Healthier Together app available for iPhone and Android.

New mothers and mothers to be will now have 24 hour access to care and support from midwives and local ambulance services.

‘We are encouraging all women to download the app at the earliest possible point during their pregnancy’

The app allows pregnant women and recent mothers to log any symptoms or concerns they may be having. The users are asked to assess their symptoms and the algorithm places them into one of three categories: red, green and amber. The app then recommends the most appropriate course of action for the patient.

The app, spearheaded by Midwife Holly Green and Triage Matron Layla Toomer, uses information from a consortium of doctors, midwives and other health professionals to provide the most sound advice on offer in the Hampshire area.

Holly Green says:

_“ (you) choose what your concern is and then it will give you some information that we have written about that concern. Then it will direct you to a red green amber matrix of those concerns. From there we will direct you.’_

Her colleague Layla Toomer says the app will help the county’s aim in ‘centralising and standardising the advice women get during pregnancy’ in the Hampshire area.
