Residents in Hampshire are being encouraged to use an online tool to highlight areas across the county that make them feel unsafe.

StreetSafe is an anonymous service that can be used by members of the public to notify the police about public spaces where they have felt or feel unsafe.

Whether it is because of environmental issues such as street lighting, abandoned buildings, vandalism or because of someone's behaviours, such as being followed or verbally abused, all can be reported using StreetSafe.

The information provided from the page will allow Hampshire Police to make everyone feel safer on the streets across the county.

The force will use the pinpointed areas to make changes, which can include installing CCTV, introducing night-time patrols or putting in street lighting.

StreetSafe was introduced as part of the government’s agenda to tackle violence against women and girls, but can be used by anybody.

StreetSafe is police-supported and has been developed in cooperation with the Home Office and the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC).
