A Hampshire doctor who supports local women living with cancer - has been crowned one of the UK’s most impressive females.
Dr Nina Fuller-Shavel, has been profiled among 100 inspirational female entrepreneurs from across the country by Small Business Britain.
This is part of their campaign to celebrate the multi-achievements of women running businesses in the UK.
Dr Fuller-Shavel founded the Synthesis Clinic in Hampshire, which supports women with cancer and provides them with wellbeing support as well as health nutrition coaching.
Dr Nina Fuller-Shavel said on the award:
"It is definitely wonderful, its a great recognition of what the team has been doing as well.
"I view it as of course I was the one who was named but I have an incredible team behind me with my clinic and I want to thank them for all the wonderful work they're doing.
On why having a clinic for women's health is important, Dr Nina said:
"Research normally excludes women from trials unless its a specific trial on hormones because women can become pregnant... even fasting trials which has become popular over the years, a lot of those trials are done on men.
"They don't have to deal with monthly cycles or the same hormone fluctuations that we do.
"Nobody really takes into account the pre-menopausal and post-menopausal women who have completely different hormonal environment.
"So what we wanted to create at the clinic, was a space where people can get medical support from the top specialists but also nutrition, lifestyle, emotional wellbeing support so they think they have the best options available to them."
Dr Nina Fuller-Shavel has this advice for aspiring female entrepreneurs:
"I say go for it! It is really, really important to build a team around you.
"Even if you are a 'solo-preneur' - you are the first person starting out, go speak to other women who are doing things, go build up a network.
"Starting out can feel like a bit of a lonely place and you may feel you're aiming too high so go and get a supportive network and absolutely 100% go for it!"
