Works to improve The Square shopping centre in Camberley has been approved by Surrey Heath Borough Council.

They are planned for, Princess Way and Cambridge Square outside House of Fraser, Obelisk Way by Boots and Bietigheim Way by Primark.

It follows work to other parts of the centre in 2019, including new flooring, lighting, fascias and public art.

The Council is now in the planning stages for these works, which are planned to start in early 2022 - after Christmas trading to minimise disruption.

Councillor Alan McClafferty, Leader, Surrey Heath Borough Council, said: “The Square continues to be a key focal point in Camberley town centre, attracting a wide range of visitors from Surrey Heath and neighbouring areas.

“The Council completed the first phase of refurbishment works shortly after we bought the centre and we are really pleased that we can now complete the next phase in Princess Way, Cambridge Square, Obelisk Way and Beitigheim Way.

“We believe these improvements will ensure the shopping centre remains a modern, safe and pleasant place for everyone to enjoy.”

The 480,000sq ft covered centre is home to more than 150 retailers and has an average weekly footfall of more than 170,000.
