Guildford to say goodbye to well known nightclub
One of Guildford's best known nightclubs is to close next month.
The Casino Club says it's with great sadness that they've had to announce the news.
They made the announcement on their Facebook page on Thursday (23 June):
"We have stood here for many years bringing you some great memories but the time has come for a new beginning.
"We thank everyone for your loyalty to us as a venue and we hope you will join us for our final weekend."
A 'last dance' event is taking place on the 8th of July.
We don't currently know why the nightclub on Onslow Street is shutting down.
The building was previously a bingo hall before being bought by Michel Harper in 1991. It opened as a club under the name Harper's before being re-branded The Drink.
In 2009 that the club received its current name Casino.
Some locals seem sad to see the club go, the announcement on Facebook has hundreds of comments with a few saying there were 'absolutely gutted' to hear of the closure and that it was 'the end of an era' with others reminiscing with friends about nights out in Guildford.
