Goldaming park takes gold at horticultural competition for ninth year in a row
The Phillips Memorial Garden won the Large Parks category
The Phillips Memorial Park in Godalming has won a prestigious gold award in the Large Park category of South & SouthEast in Bloom for the ninth year in a row.
The 11 acre park also holds a coveted Green Flag award, and is tended to by volunteers.
This year’s judges commented that “the park provides a beautiful space with so many different elements, there really is a space for everyone.
Its size and layout means you can enjoy smaller areas or explore for a longer walk".
Judges also praised the results of the volunteers’ work on the upkeep of planted areas and the Park Keeper’s work to maintain the park’s cleanliness.
Cllr Kika Mirylees, Waverley Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Health, Wellbeing, Parks and Leisure, said: “This is a wonderful achievement. We are very thankful to our parks and countryside team and the volunteers who put in the hard work to ensure our beautiful greenspaces keep flourishing.
Congratulations to them and a huge thank you for all that you do!”
