Four Hampshire men due in court over the alleged destruction of a dormouse habitat

It allegedly happened in early 2023

Four men are due in court after the alleged destruction of a rare hazel dormouse habitat in Hampshire.

It’s alleged to have happened between 1 January and the 22 February last year on land at Petersfield Rugby Club.

The following people will appear at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 20 June.

• Stuart Barden, aged 57, of Winchester Road in Petersfield

• David Cole, aged 34, of Weald Way in Petersfield

• Steve Field, aged 64, of Redwing Road in Clanfield

• Neil Hitch, aged 62, of Marybridge Close in Totton

They all face one charge of damaging and destroying the breeding and resting place of a European protected species.
