The managing director of a social media company based in Camberley has said that he can "totally see" the 4 day work week becoming the norm.

Conquest Social Media transitioned to a 4 day workweek one year ago, and have said that it's resulted in increased productivity, enhanced employee satisfaction and impressive business growth.

Employees at the Surrey-based company work from Monday to Thursday and get a three-day weekend.

Dan Adams, managing director of Conquest Social Media, said that he could see other companies adopting a 4 day work week "without a shadow of a doubt".

Dan explained what some of the benefits of a 4 day working week are.

"We were accredted in 2020 with carbon negative status, where the business worked very hard on its carbon emissions... this (the 4 day week) is just a further addition to that.

"Obviously the saving on electricity consumption, including lighting, servers, lifts, heating, air conditioning, by saving that on one day a week over the course of a year actually saved 30%.

"It helps each employee as well in terms of their personal savings they would normally have on their lunches, on commuting, childcare... We've also found retention is a huge thing as well - it's a nice thing for staff to have, a 4 day week instead of 5... we also noticed a reduction in a number of sick days staff are having, which is a clear indicator that the 4 day model is better for overall health, not just mental health.

Dan suggested that it would be unlikely for his company to return to the traditional 5 day week.

"If you'd asked me this 2 years ago whether I'd be working a 4 day week - the answer would be a resounding no. However now I can't ever see us going back to a 5 day week."
