Football star Mason Mount has spent an afternoon making memories with families supported by the Shooting Star Children's Hospices.

The midfielder who plays for England and Chelsea FC is a patron for the national charity Together for Short Lives.

Mason visited Shooting Star's Guildford hospice to join in with some football themed activities.

The visit was his very first time to a children’s hospice.

Mason Mount, Patron of Together for Short Lives said:

“I am really passionate about highlighting the lifeline support Together for Short Lives and children’s hospices like Shooting Star Children’s Hospices give to seriously ill children and their families so that every family that needs it can access lifeline care.

"It was great to meet the children today and see for myself that children’s hospices are places of warmth, joy and laughter.”

Children and families enjoyed a kick about with Mason

Jenny, mum to five-year-old Gwen said:

"It’s been a lovely afternoon and Mason was fantastic with Gwen, she loved throwing the ball to him and was great to get a lovely photo of her with him doing her pout and pose – which her sister taught her with pride. It’s been really lovely to be back to together and enjoy time at the hospice.”

Paul Farthing, Chief Executive of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices said:

“It was wonderful to welcome Mason Mount and Together for Short Lives to our hospice and show him what an amazing place it is as well as meet some of the families we care for.

"It was clear by all the smiling faces how much everyone enjoyed the day, having the opportunity for photos and to practice their football skills with him too.

"It’s so important for days like this to help raise awareness of the vital work we do for families who need us most.”
